🔊 Clicking sound but engine won't start

Do you hear a click when you turn the key but the engine doesn't start? It's a classic problem – most often related to the electrical system or starter.
🔋 1. Weak or dead battery (most common)
Symptoms:
- A click – but nothing happens
- Instruments flicker or die
Solution:
- Charge the battery
- Try with another battery
- Check the battery's condition
🔌 2. Bad cables or connections
Corrosion is very common in boats.
Symptoms:
- Clicking sound
- Irregular starting
Solution:
- Clean battery terminals
- Tighten cables
- Replace damaged cables
⚙️ 3. Broken starter relay (solenoid)
The relay clicks – but doesn't send power forward.
Symptoms:
- Clear click every time
- Engine doesn't crank
Solution:
- Replace starter relay
🔧 4. Starter motor is defective
If the starter motor is worn → it can't turn the engine over.
Symptoms:
- Click + sometimes a weak attempt to crank
- Nothing happens despite a good battery
Solution:
- Overhaul or replace starter motor
⚡ 5. Bad ground (negative)
Often forgotten!
Symptoms:
- Clicking sound
- Electronics behave strangely
Solution:
- Check the ground cable
- Clean contact points
